Two pilots in police custody and three scooters or motorcycles in administrative seizure.

This is the assessment of the urban rodeos that have taken place in recent days in Sartrouville (Yvelines).

The last event dates back only a few hours.

This Wednesday, a man who was riding a scooter without a helmet on the sidewalk of avenue Georges-Clémenceau was arrested after refusing the control of the municipal police (PM) and fled in the direction of the Indies district.

While he had abandoned his machine behind a building on the Maxime-Gorki promenade, the man was chased by the municipal police.

The arrest is forceful, the agents then having to face about fifteen individuals and call a second crew as reinforcements to keep the group at a distance.

The evening before, the municipal police had already arrested the pilot of a scooter spotted on the same avenue Georges-Clemenceau in the company of his passenger, without a helmet or license plate.

Here again, the tandem took the direction of the Indies district, followed remotely by a PM crew and by the cameras of the urban supervision center (CSU) which made it possible to precisely locate the position of the machine, and that of its driver, hidden in a nearby vehicle.

A machine found… on the 9th floor of a building

Last Friday, it was a motocross that the police had seized following an urban rodeo on the boulevard de Bezons.

Refusing to evade control, the driver had fled to rue Fernand-Léger, pursued by the officers.

But in front of the building where the man put his motorcycle, about fifteen individuals stand in the way.

The national police is then called in reinforcement and must make use of tear gas in response to the jets of projectiles that it wipes.

The motorcycle will finally be found… on the 9th floor of the building before being seized too.

For Pierre Fond, the mayor (LR) of Sartrouville, the disqualification of these two-wheelers, and in particular motocross, is "a blow" to fans of urban rodeos described as "plague in terms of noise and security ".

Seizing vehicles, "it hurts them", says the mayor

“These motorcycles are a valuable asset, often stolen.

Depriving them of it hurts them,” said the elected official who “can only

welcome

these serial arrests” and said he was determined “to do everything possible” to put an end to the rodeos in his town.

Note that in Trappes, a 53-year-old man was also arrested on Tuesday evening following a similar rodeo.

This is the father of the pilot apprehended by the police.

He is accused of having provoked a riot intended to free his son while he was boarding the police vehicle.

The dirt bike was seized for the purposes of the investigation.
