The renovation of the state road between Rott and Ludenhausen has been planned for some time.

But now the project is gaining momentum.

The plans were presented.

Rott - "About four years ago, the measure was classified as necessary," reported Andreas Lenker, the department head of the Weilheim state building authority, who is now responsible not only for road construction in the neighboring district, but also in the Landsberg district, in the Rott municipal council.

It was about the renovation of the state road between Rott and Ludenhausen.

"Last year we already presented the project, which has been fine-tuned a bit in the meantime, to the mayor, but there was no presentation to the municipal council because of Corona," explained Lenker.

The redevelopment project extends from the northern end of the town of Rott to the southern town entrance of Ludenhausen and covers around 2.6 kilometers of road.

"The street width is only between 5.2 meters and 5.8 meters, that's too narrow," said Lenker, the main reason for the renovation, which should significantly increase traffic safety.

"The alignment and the structural condition is very bad," added Lenker, who also presented some figures on the pollution in this area.

The road is used by 5,100 vehicles daily, and the proportion of heavy traffic is 6.4 percent, which is above the national average for state roads of around five percent.

"The numbers are from 2015, they will have increased by now," said Lenker.

New bike path planned

The new road, which is based on the course of the old one, will then be eight meters wide outside of town.

In the Pessenhausen district of Rott, through which it runs, the street width will be six meters.

What is completely new is that state road 2057 will have a cycle path in this section, which will be carried out entirely on the western side.

This cycle path is three meters wide in built-up areas and two and a half meters wide outside of built-up areas.

The road construction authority will now also present the plans to the neighboring community of Reichling.

"Then the desired changes are incorporated and the finished plans are presented to the government of Upper Bavaria.

This is followed by the planning approval procedure, which can last between three and six years,” said Lenker, explaining the further procedure and the timeline.

Only after completion of the procedure, which in exceptional cases and if there are no major objections can also be completed faster, does construction begin.

"Provided that budgetary funds are available," said Lenker.

Local councils would like help with crossing at the outskirts of Rott

In the subsequent discussion about the project, a possible crossing aid at the end of Rott near the Edeka market came into play, which should possibly be included.

However, no decision was made about this traffic island.

A decision by the municipal council suggested by Mayor Fritz Schneider, which in principle does not have to give approval for the project, which only contained acknowledgment of the plans, was postponed to the next meeting after the summer break at the request of a council member.

"But I haven't heard any critical statements from the municipal council about the project," concluded Andreas Lenker.
