The airline found it unusual and an investigation revealed that a former ground staff member had made changes to Liang's account.

Ordered 24 in-flight meals for Liang Chuanxin

The facts of the case allege that Liang Chuanxin booked a round-trip air ticket for him and his family to Japan in December 2019.

However, a few days after Liang arrived in Japan, HKExpress staff found that Liang's return order had some unusual and unpaid booking requirements, such as 24 meals, 5 luggage allowance, and other unusual operations included: selecting preferred seats. 5 times, photocopied the itinerary information 5 times, changed the name of Liang Zai's passenger information to Leung Shit, and another record shows that someone tried to pay the above fee with wrong credit card information 5 times.

HkExpress subsequently conducted an internal investigation and found that the operation involved was sent through the Internet service at the defendant's residence by tracing the IP address.

Defendant worked as an airline ground handler

The defendant and man B were both employed by HKExpress as ground staff, and had left their jobs at the time of the crime.

On December 23, B, a man who served as ground crew, learned of Liang's arrangement to travel to Japan. After dishonestly obtaining relevant flight information, B shared the information with the defendant and others through a WhatsApp group.

The defendant logged into Leung's reservation account with a mobile app the next day and made the above changes without Leung's permission.

The defendant was arrested on January 24, 2020. He cautioned and said: "I am always a fun-loving person for a while, first log in to the HKExpress app with a Reference, and then change his menu to trick them."
