Today (Wednesday) the High Court reversed its decision from 2020, when the supreme judges decided by a majority opinion that the houses in the Mitzpe Caremi settlement would not be evicted. The decision was made about two years ago, contrary to the position of former prosecutor Avichai Mandelblit, who believed that they could be qualified.

In the previous ruling, the court stated that in the current case, a large part of the responsibility for the difficult and painful result for the residents of Mitzpe Kerim rests with the state.

Then the judges ordered that the evacuation of the buildings be carried out within three years, and only after the residents are allocated alternative land on state land and alternative buildings are built for them, or the existing buildings are copied to it.

Mitzpe Karemi was initially established as an outpost to the southwest of the settlement of Kochav Hashar.

In 1999, the "Outposts Agreement" was drawn up between the leaders of the Yesha Council and between the Prime Minister and Defense Minister at the time, Ehud Barak, in which it was agreed on the evacuation and freezing of certain outposts and the relocation of others, and in 2000 Mitzpe Karmi moved to its current

location. The current location of the outpost was determined on The basis of the outline plan of the settlement Kochav Hashahar - but then it became clear that although it is within the outline plan of the settlement, some of the buildings in it were erected on private Palestinian land, and not on state land as initially thought.
