The price of fuel is expected to drop by half a shekel at the beginning of August - this is according to the draft order published this evening (Wednesday) by the Ministry of Finance.
The draft states that there will be a reduction in the excise tax on fuels, which will be reflected in a half shekel drop in the price per liter.
At the beginning of the month, the price of fuel jumped to NIS 8.08 per liter, thus crossing the NIS 8 threshold for the first time since 2012.
The reduction in the excise tax joins the existing reduction, which caused a decrease of half a shekel in the price, so that the decrease in the price of fuel will be embodied in a total of one shekel.
This decision by the Ministry of Finance joins another step by the government in an attempt to try to curb the rising cost of living - a slowdown in the rise in bread prices.
Finally a drop in price.

On Monday, Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Economy Minister Orna Barbibai agreed that the price of the three types of bread will gradually increase.
The price of the uniform sliced bread will increase by 5.5%, the price of challah will increase by 8% and the price of the uniform bread will increase by 5%.
According to the Prime Minister's announcement, another price increase will take place in December.
The price of the sliced uniform bread and the price of challah will increase as determined by the price committee.
The uniform bread price will increase to 21% (15% less than the Price Committee's determination) and this for three months only.
The prices of white bread and white sliced bread will not increase.
