The city council is committed to the construction of the ice rink and to the preservation of ice sports in Fürstenfeldbruck.

In concrete terms, this means: Even while the Amperoase is being demolished, the ice surface must be able to be used.

Fürstenfeldbruck - The clear commitment to ice sports is based on a joint application by BBV, FW, SPD and ÖDP.

They had reacted to the fears of the two ice clubs EV Fürstenfeldbruck and ERC Fürstenfeldbruck.

According to Christian Götz (BBV) in the city council, members are already running away from them.

The fear: while the Amperoase is being demolished, the ice surface cannot be used.

In order to have security for their sporting future, they look elsewhere.

"A season failure endangers the clubs," said Götz.

Technology bars come first

In order to counteract these fears, the city council has now committed itself with a two-thirds majority to securing ice sports in the city.

Above all, this means that the so-called technology bar – i.e. the building in which the cooling system is housed – and the cabin wing must be finished before the Amperoase is demolished.

Cabins and cooling technology are currently located there.

Ultimately, the commitment is just a "repeating of decisions that we have already made," said Andreas Lohde (CSU).

The psychological effect of the decision is nevertheless important for the clubs concerned.

The construction of the ice rink also cleared another hurdle.

A large majority of the city council approved the corresponding installation resolution.

Nevertheless, discussions about the project continue undeterred.

Two points of contention

Specifically, there are two lines of dispute.

Firstly, the fundamental question of whether an ice rink should be built at all in times of climate change and the energy crisis.

Theresa Hannig (Greens) initiated this discussion in the last planning and building committee.

She also made a passionate plea against the building in the city council.

She feels sorry for the clubs.

"But I find it cynical to build an ice rink now." But she was the only one to say so.

"The ice rink does not kill the climate," replied Alexa Zierl (ÖDP).

And Martin Kellerer said that the ice rink shouldn't be sacrificed to the energy crisis.

FFB newsletter.)

The second line of contention concerns the financing of the construction.

And this is where controversial discussions are already emerging.

The central question will be whether the municipal utilities are even able to handle the project.

"They can't just shake 15 to 20 million out of their sleeves," said Christian Stangl (Greens).

His party colleague Jan Halbauer was even clearer: "The municipal utilities will not build it."

question of funding

Andreas Lohde had therefore also requested that another point be added to the ice sports commitment - namely the search for financing options.

The CSU recently expressed an initial idea in an application.

The northern part of the cattle market place should be sold to an investor.

The ice rink could then be financed with the money.
