Inflation rate in Lower Saxony was 7.6 percent in July

Consumer prices in Lower Saxony rose by 7.6 percent in July compared to the same month last year.
This was announced by the State Office for Statistics on Thursday based on preliminary results.
Overall, the level of consumer prices rose by one percent in July 2022 compared to June 2022.
Hanover - Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 13.8 percent in July compared to July 2021. The price increase is even stronger than in June, when prices rose by 11.8 percent year-on-year.
Edible fats and oils in particular increased: sunflower oil, rapeseed oil or similar was 98.4 percent more expensive than a year ago, butter prices rose by 50.4 percent.
Household energy prices rose by 45.5 percent over the same period.
According to the state office, the abolition of the EEG levy has mitigated the increases in electricity prices.
In the transport sector, the rate of inflation has been weakened by the Federal Government's relief measures, it is said: Here prices increased by 6.3 percent;
in June, the price increase in this area was still 17.0 percent compared to June 2021. dpa
