Gröbenzell – Nobody can get past the new town hall in the heart of Gröbenzell: Its striking, open and modern architecture between the churches and the community library characterizes the town center after three years of construction.
Many Gröbenzellers have been there since it went into operation in September 2021 to apply for a new passport at the Citizens' Service Office or to take care of other matters.
On July 22, the town hall administration opened the barrier-free new building completely to the citizens for a long summer afternoon at the big Open Day.
Supporting program for open house guests
Offices, conference halls, meeting rooms, faction rooms, the roof terrace with a view or the wedding room - interested visitors were allowed to look in everywhere.
Display boards in the corridors provided information about the
construction process
of the new town hall and the
history of Gröbenzell
, a
short film
about the
demolition
and new construction of the town hall was shown in the large meeting room, and employees were available at information points on every floor to
answer
questions.
Construction plans
and models were on display in
the small meeting room of the new building, and the architect and planner held
specialist lectures several times in the afternoon
and answered questions from visitors.
Hundreds of interested people took advantage of the services offered by the town hall administration, and the roof terrace and the beer garden
area at the entrance to the town hall were also
well frequented in the best summer weather.
Around 40 children from the Gröbenbach School opened the "Open Day" with a colorful
program
of dancing and singing.

blessing and time capsule
The official inauguration of the building had already taken place at lunchtime on the same day.
After Mayor Martin Schäfer
had welcomed all invited guests
,
Stephan Leissle
from the planning and executing architectural firm Behnisch Architekten gave a presentation to present the new municipal building to guests such as
Michael Schrodi, Member of the Bundestag, District Administrator Thomas Karmasin
, the mayors of the surrounding communities and the Gröbenzell municipal council.
The building's roof terrace was then inaugurated by
pastor Susanne Kießling-Printz
of the Protestant Zacchaeus congregation and
deacon Roland Wittal
dedicated to the Catholic parish of St. Johann Baptist.
The guests then toured the rooms, while Schäfer, Leissle von Behnisch Architekten, the head of the building authority Markus Groß and construction manager Ines Beyer placed the time capsule in the wall on the ground floor, which had been filled when the foundation stone was laid in 2018.
