Meghan Markle apparently wanted to be the center of attention as a royal, but her plan didn't work out.

Meghan Markle resigned from her royal duties more than two years ago and turned her back on the crown.

Her injured pride is also said to have played a role.

Meghan apparently didn't want to share the limelight with anyone.

London – The relationship with Prince Harry (37) and the associated entry into the British royal family turned Meghan Markle's (40) life upside down.

In addition to a new place of residence, the former actress also had to get used to new duties, rules and traditions – not an easy transition.

Meghan is said to have struggled with court protocol early on.

Investigative journalist Tom Bower (75) does not mince his words in his recently published investigative book "Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors".

The work, in which Bower reveals that Queen Elizabeth II (96) is said to have been happy about Meghan's cancellation of Prince Philips (99, † 2021) funeral, has not only become a topic of conversation in Great Britain.

So that it stays that way, the British writer continues to beat the advertising drum.

In the GB News breakfast show "Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel" he recently gave an insight into Meghan's emotional world.

The American is said to have struggled with her role as Royal right from the start because her expectations were apparently not met.

"She realized very quickly that she wasn't going to get the number one status she wanted.

There is only one number one in the royal family and the rest of the family is there to support the Queen," Bower said.

According to the 75-year-old, Meghan's realization was one of the reasons for the Sussexes' stepping down as senior royals and their subsequent move to the United States: "Meghan didn't understand why she wasn't in the spotlight and she decided very quickly that she'd be better off in Hollywood."

After leaving the palace, the ducal couple would also like to gain a foothold in the USA.

The parents of two work with various US companies such as the streaming service Netflix.

The New York-based publishing group Penguin Random House was also able to win the Queen's grandson as a cooperation partner.

Prince Harry has completed his memoir, which is due out later this year.
