Although she belongs to a blind family, her belief in science and her adherence to her dream made the student Ghazal Al-Jourani achieve excellence in the Basic Education Certificate with a total of 3026 degrees.
Ghazal told SANA reporter, "I suffer from a disease in my eyes that made me blind and unable to read and write, so I resorted to audio studies through audio recordings, and despite all that I suffered, I persevered and worked hard to achieve excellence and distinction and to prove to myself and the community that I am capable of excelling and obtaining the highest grades."
Ghazal talks about the difficulties she faced during the school year, including the long hours she needed to memorize compared to her healthy classmates. She used to imagine in her subconscious mind all the theoretical and scientific materials she memorized, and on this basis she stored them in her memory so that she could retrieve them on the exam paper.
Ghazal, who submitted an objection to the Homs Education Directorate because she expected to achieve a full score in the exam, refers to the great and supportive role of her family, who accompanied her throughout the year to achieve excellence, knowing that her father and two brothers Haider and Farah are also blind and the mother is the only visionary who carries the largest share of managing the family’s life affairs. In every detail.
Ghazal's mother, engineer Najat al-Abbas, recalls the journey of fatigue and effort for her blind daughter, who stayed up late and suffered a lot in the basic education certificate. She says, "I was Ghazal's eyes, which she studies with, and I kept following her every moment and helping her with memorization and study, out of my concern for the importance of educational attainment."
Ghazal's mother considers that the superiority of her children and their academic excellence makes her forget all the fatigue and gives her impetus and strength so that she can continue with them and for them, because they are the secret of her happiness.
For his part, her father, Ibrahim Al-Jourani, who holds a law degree, indicated that success and excellence require determination, will, and belief in oneself, and this is what Ghazal possessed in all stages of her studies, knowing that she did not follow any private lessons.
