"Beirut will not give up its rights in the maritime resources that are in dispute with Israel," said today (Saturday) the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Navia Berri, in a conversation with the country's media.
Berry, who a few weeks ago promised himself another term in his long-standing position, referred in his words to the visit to Beirut of the American mediator on the maritime border drawing issue, Amos Hochstein at the weekend.
Before that, the mediator met with Israeli officials and informed them of his meeting with the President of Lebanon, Michel Aoun.
"Tomorrow there will be a final answer and God willing we will go to Nakura. It is better than going to another proposal. It is agreed between the three heads of state (President Michel Aoun, Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Berri himself; SHK) to return to the 'framework agreement'."

Berry basically expressed a desire to return to another round at the indirect negotiating table in Nakura. He did not specify what his intention was with regard to the "framework agreement", but he emphasized that Lebanon demands the Kana field in its entirety. This is a potential area for gas exploration, through which the border in the Lebanese outline passes. Require line 23, in addition to the Cana field. Line 23 does not include the Shark rig.
Also, Berry said that he rejects "normalization" in the establishment of an international company that will share the gas resources between the countries in the disputed region.
He also claimed that the launch of the three drones towards Sde Harish by the Hezbollah terrorist organization actually contributed to the advancement of the maritime border drawing case, by accelerating the contacts.
Berry's words come at a time when, on Friday, Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib actually expressed optimism about the possibility of reaching a deal on the matter.
