Rabbi Yitzhak Tovia Weiss, the senior leader of the "Eda Haredit", the most extreme ultra-Orthodox movement, passed away last night (Saturday) at the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.

Tens of thousands are expected to attend his funeral, which will take place today at 10:30 in the capital and will bring with it roadblocks and heavy traffic in the area.

The funeral march left his home in Givat Moshe, through the neighborhood of Mea Shearim, Sultan Suleiman, and up to the cemetery on the Mount of Olives.

Rabbi Weiss, 95 years old, was recently hospitalized after his condition deteriorated.

Last night his children, family members and close students said goodbye to him saying 'Shema Yisrael' near his hospital room.

Rabbi Weiss is known by his nickname Gabod, the initials of Gadol Av Beit HaDin, since 2003 he has led the anti-Zionist coalition of courts concentrated in Jerusalem, and under his leadership are thousands of ultra-Orthodox families, including in Beit Shemesh. In his life he was a signatory to a long series of struggles in Jerusalem , with an emphasis on the protests against the opening of the Karta parking lot or against the arrest of the "Mother HaMariva".

The police called on the driving public to avoid arriving in the Jerusalem area unnecessarily and to obey the police officers' instructions.
