Rabbi Yitzhak Tovia Weiss, who headed the ultra-Orthodox community, passed away on Saturday evening at the age of 96. He contracted an infection several months ago and was hospitalized in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem in June.
Since 2003, Rabbi Weiss has held the position of Gabbad of the ultra-Orthodox community, a group that unites several ultra-orthodox groups, one of the most prominent characteristics of which is that they are withdrawn and separate, and are strongly opposed to the existence of a Zionist state.
The date of his funeral has not yet been set, but it is very likely that it will take place today, in the evening, due to the Jerusalem custom that there is no to mourn the dead. He is expected to be buried next to his first wife at the Mount of Olives cemetery. His funeral is expected to be attended by crowds
