The Russian Foreign Ministry denounced the disgraceful behavior of a Norwegian diplomat in Russia, after social networks circulated a video from a surveillance camera of a hotel reception desk in the Russian city of Murmansk, which appeared to attack the Russians.
Zakharova said on her Telegram channel today, "The statements of Elizabeth Ellingsen, the consul of Norway in Murmansk, clearly express hatred. By choosing vocabulary, she revealed her true face and latent hatred for Russia and its people," noting that the Russian Foreign Ministry is considering taking an appropriate response to the behavior of the Norwegian employee.
The video showed how Ellingsen acted aggressively in a Murmansk hotel when he was asked to wait for her room to be cleaned, and she clearly told the hotel reception: "I hate Russians."
For its part, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deep regret over the incident, telling AFP that "the feelings expressed do not reflect the Norwegian policy or the Norwegian position towards Russia and the Russian people," adding that the ministry is dealing with the incident through appropriate channels.
In another context, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman advised British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to change his gender to be able to take over the position of NATO Secretary General.
Commenting on Johnson's desire to lead the alliance, in conjunction with the news that he did not have an opportunity, because according to the unspoken rules, a woman who should take this position, Zakharova joked, "Nothing prevents Johnson from suddenly discovering a woman in himself. He is modern and bold in his style .. a change Gender is currently allowed in NATO countries and he can choose the one that suits him.”
British media had previously reported that Johnson might seek to fill the post of NATO Secretary-General.
