The British (Express) newspaper revealed that the harsh sanctions imposed by Western countries on Russia in an attempt to paralyze the Russian economy due to its military operation in Ukraine are considered "suicide for Europe" amid fears that the European continent will plunge into the largest financial crisis in its history.

The newspaper quoted the head of the French (Generation Frequent) movement, Charles Charles-Henri Galois, as saying that “sanctions against Russia are tantamount to suicide for Europe,” calling on the European Union to “abolish the sanctions, otherwise the European continent is likely to face the largest financial crisis in its history.”

Galois warned that "the European Union's sanctions against Russia are counterproductive and rebound on it, and that it will suffer more harm and consequences of the sanctions than Russia itself," explaining that "some European countries such as Germany and Italy rely heavily on Russian gas supplies and cannot replace it, in addition to France, which will suffer." Also because Russia was an important supplier of oil to it.”

Galois added: “We are now buying the same fuel through India and Saudi Arabia, but at an additional cost, and with the depreciation of the euro, it has become more expensive,” considering that “it is only hypocrisy and we will not be able to replace Russian energy sources in this way and we have no facilities.”

The newspaper pointed out that hundreds of millions of Europeans will face a severely cold winter, and many calls were made to legalize the use of gas, with Russia reducing gas supplies and the possibility of cutting it off from the continent completely.

Eurozone inflation jumped to 8.9 percent this month from 8.6 percent last month, with the euro dropping to par against the dollar earlier this month for the first time in more than 20 years.

Earlier this month, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that the sanctions imposed by the United States and Western countries on Russia had an immediate impact on them.

After Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass, Western countries imposed wide-ranging sanctions against Moscow, and this turned into economic problems for the United States, Britain and the European Union, including a sharp rise in fuel and food prices.
