The Asia trip from
Nancy Pelosi and the congressional delegation she is leading has begun.
Her office announced the dates of the trip on Sunday (July 31), according to

.
The statement mentioned visits to Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan.
The previously suspected visit to Taiwan has not yet been officially mentioned.
China had already reacted with a military exercise in the Taiwan Strait in anticipation of a US stop in Taiwan.

Taiwan and China: is the US playing with fire?
First report from Saturday, July 30, 6:30 a.m.:
Fujian / Taiwan – The Chinese army has announced military maneuvers in the Taiwan Strait for the whole of Saturday (July 30).
It is planned between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., the army said via Chinese state media.
During this time it is strictly forbidden to drive into the strait, warned military officials.
Among other things, live ammunition is said to be used in the maneuver.
However, further details remained open.
The military maneuver is seen as a reaction to the announced visit of Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives.

As she holds the third-highest office in the US, Pelosi could travel to Taiwan on a military plane, which the Chinese government appears to perceive as a threat.
Taiwan: China threatens US
China's head of state Xi Jinping threatened US President Joe Biden in a telephone call on Thursday (July 28).
“If you play with fire, you will eventually get burned.
I hope the US side gets this right," he said, according to consistent media reports.
China regards Taiwan as a breakaway province that is to be reunited with the mainland, if necessary militarily.
The announced military maneuvers will take place in the Formo Strait, also known as the Taiwan Strait.
This is a 180 km wide strait between the Chinese province of Fujian and the island of Taiwan.
