The Supreme Council for Economic and Social Planning, during its meeting today headed by Prime Minister Hussein Arnous, conducted a follow-up and review of the reality of investment and current spending in all ministries, institutions and public authorities during the first half of 2022.

The meeting comes within the framework of preparing for the convening of the Supreme Council for Economic and Social Planning to prepare and discuss the budget for the next year 2023. And discussed the procedures to be taken to increase the rates of implementation and to benefit from the full appropriations allocated in the investment budget for this goal.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to adopt specific spending according to carefully set goals that include the projects to be completed in the investment plan and focus on projects with great economic profitability that directly reflect on the current reality and contribute to promoting community economic development.

Engineer Arnous also stressed the overcoming of any obstacles to the implementation of the projects approved in the budget and prioritizing their implementation in terms of the most economically feasible, which contributes to enhancing production and improving services as well as increasing credits for projects that can be put into production and reflect positively and directly on the national economy, while continuing to strive and make all efforts to promote Programs and projects of development plans, the rotation of the production wheel, the introduction of new projects, investment support and the importance of flexibility in modifying some plans with the aim of facing economic changes at the global level, stressing the need to expand the role of national companies in exploration, drilling and exploration for oil derivatives.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to focus spending during the second half of this year on expanding agricultural production, both plant and animal, industrial production, introducing more facilities suspended in service and actual production, completing the implementation of government irrigation projects and transferring them to the modern irrigation system in order to achieve a greater production return in addition to increasing The area of ​​reclaimed lands for agriculture, encouraging investment in various sectors, and completing the implementation of strategically important projects, such as the Aleppo Thermal Station and the Rastan Station in Lattakia.

For his part, Minister of Finance, Dr. Kinan Yaghi, gave a presentation on the reality of ministries spending on projects during the first half of the current year 2022 and spending on social support in the social aid sectors (agricultural production fund, supply flour - oil derivatives - basic materials) the fund to mitigate the effects of drought and the transition to irrigation The talk is in addition to the reasons for amending the appropriations of the budget chapters due to the issuance of a number of legislative instruments related to improving the conditions of workers in the state.

The council reviewed the ministries’ requests related to adding credits to the investment credits to finance and implement new projects of a developmental nature or to finance projects listed in the investment plans.
