The Prime Minister addressed a letter to Antonio Guterres following the statement of one of the heads of the Human Rights Council's investigation committee who claimed that the social networks are controlled by the "Jewish lobby" • Lapid: "The fight against anti-Semitism cannot be conducted only through words alone. It requires action. It's time to take action - it's time to dissolve the committee"

Prime Minister Yair Lapid addressed an unusual letter this evening (Sunday) to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and demanded that he immediately remove and disband the members of the Permanent Commission of Inquiry against Israel.

The committee was established by the UN Human Rights Council following Operation Wall Guardian, however the duration of its work was not limited in time and apparently it is supposed to continue to publish unlimited reports on "Israel and the Occupied Territories".

Lapid's appeal followed anti-Semitic statements by one of the committee's three members, Milon Kotari, who wondered why Israel was allowed to become a member of the United Nations and claimed that the "Jewish lobby" was conducting a propaganda campaign on social media against the legitimacy of the committee and its members.

"Mr. Guterres, I call on you today to respect your words in this scandalous case and to set things straight - this thing cannot pass in silence," Lapid wrote to the UN Secretary General.

"Slanders about a 'Jewish lobby' that works to 'control' the media are reminiscent of the darkest days of modern history. The fight against anti-Semitism cannot be waged with words alone. It requires action. It's time to take action - it's time to dissolve the committee."

Lapid added and claimed that "this committee not only supports anti-Semitism - it incites it."

The sending of the letter is part of a comprehensive and intensive effort led by Israel in recent days, which has led to the fact that representatives from a number of countries have already condemned Kotari's anti-Semitic comments, including: the United States, France, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Austria and the European Union.

Will he answer the request?

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the report and stated that it is "a waste of money and efforts of the UN systems, as part of the witch hunt conducted by the Human Rights Council against Israel. This is a biased and one-sided report, which is tainted with hatred for the State of Israel and is based on a long series of reports." One-sided and previous biases".

It also states that "the report ignores years of murderous terror by the Palestinian terrorist organizations against Israeli citizens, as well as the long-standing Palestinian resistance and the wild and anti-Semitic incitement of the Palestinian Authority and its mechanisms."

The United States also determined that the report is biased against Israel, and together with 20 other countries published a harsh statement against the UN Human Rights Council. The statement stated, among other things, that the establishment of the Commission of Inquiry is an example of the biased and disproportionate treatment that the Council devotes to Israel, which must to stop
