As first published in Israel Hayom, a protest by Foreign Ministry employees in various missions around the world caused a shortage of passports in several destinations.
Now the crisis is worsening, and Israelis who have to issue a passport at dozens of Israeli missions in different countries find themselves in a very problematic situation - there are no new passports to issue.
If you are going to fly soon to the USA (New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Boston and Atlanta), to Europe (Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom), to Australia, to Costa Rica And for Colombia - do everything not to lose your passport, because you will not be able to issue a new one.
The main victims of the situation are Israelis who live abroad and, of course, also Israelis who fly on vacation to any of these destinations and lose their passports. The embassies have options to issue transit permits, a document that should help provide the possibility of flying to Israel, but there are certain countries and airlines that make it difficult to fly with transit permits, and therefore This document may cause problems for passengers who are supposed to fly and rely on it.
In the campaign launched by the Foreign Ministry employees, they call on Prime Minister Yair Lapid to intervene as soon as possible to resolve the dispute that has been going on for several months and is putting many Israelis in difficult situations.
The main claims of the Foreign Ministry employees overseas are about the salary, the terms of employment as well as other conditions related to their activities abroad.
