Opinion An egg that was not born on Yom Tov Israel today

2022-07-31T19:46:53.200Z

Shaked paid too heavy a price to connect a party to it, which since then has only been connected and has never run on its own two feet • Initially with Moshe Ya'alon, then Blue and White, then a new hope

The date for submitting the lists to the 25th Knesset is set for September 14.

Therefore, it is not clear what caused Ayelet Shaked, a skilled politician, to announce the union with "Derech Eretz" already now, even before she made sure that her wings were secure.

It looks like challah that didn't finish rising and was put in the oven, prematurely, and pita came out.

Shaked got a party with friends, well-known and good Knesset members, and a lot of money in the coffers.

Instead of convincing Matan Kahana, Abir Kara, Shirley Pinto and even Yom Tov Kalphon to stay with her - she wanted to sign with Derech Eretz.

Instead of convincing Nir Orbach, who probably won't get a place in Likud, to stay with her, and instead of bringing more knit cap wearers to her new-old list - she hastened to close with Yoaz Handel and Zvika Hauser, who, as is well known, do not hold legions of voters.

I will emphasize - in the upcoming elections there is a place for a party that will represent the religious Zionism, the religious moderate and the state right wing in its political way.

There is also room for a combined party of knit cap wearers and traditional secularists who think and want the right.

In the outgoing Knesset they found their place in two parties - Yamina and New Hope.

Together these two parties received 13 mandates, which are currently looking for a home.

These voters do not want the ultra-orthodox religiosity of Smotrich and Ben Gvir, and they do not necessarily want one-man rule in the Likud. The new party, which quickly changed its name to the "Zionist Spirit", can serve as a home for them under certain conditions, and the conditions are very clear - a right-wing party, Religious-traditional, ethical, Zionist. But also one, like the MPDL at the time, who can sit with any side of the political map and who puts Israel first.

However, even though they gathered in the village of Maccabiah, waved flags, waved their hands in the air and even passed the percentage of blocking in the polls - it is not clear where they are headed.

Shaked said she does not rule out Netanyahu and Handel actually does.

Shaked promised, in one of the penultimate interviews, that 50% of the list would be from religious Zionism, when she named Handel as one of this audience, even though he does not wear a kippah.

One of Yamina's former members, Deputy Minister Abir Kara, was interviewed last weekend and answered that he is on the list right after Shaked. But the second place is reserved for Yoaz Handel.

And it's no secret that Ayelet Shaked reserves the third place for Matan Kahana, who is still finding his way.

Hence, Cara will only get the fifth place, as the fourth is reserved for Zvika Hauser.

But the polls currently have only four mandates, so why would Cara stay there and not run together with his supporters from the independent sector?

She came to say that Shaked paid too heavy a price to join a party that had only joined since then, and never ran on its own two feet.

Initially with Moshe Ya'alon, then Blue and White, then Tikva New and now with Yamina.

Ayelet Shaked must bend her waist and do everything in her power to bring Kahana and Kara to the list, and preferably at least one more woman in the first six, and do it long before the deadline for submitting the lists.
