Exceptional fishing of fine amberjacks in the Ligurian Sea.
Over 200 quintals of this white-fleshed fish species ended up in the nets of two fishing boats operated by professional fishermen.
The exceptional catches took place in the stretch of sea between Genoa and the Cinque Terre.
The amberjacks ended up in the nets of the fishing boats Lupa, of Sestri Levante and the Aquila Pescatrice of Genoa.
According to local fishermen, this is one of the largest catches of the last decade.
A Casarza Ligure wholesaler collected the entire catch that was sold throughout Liguria and in upper Tuscany and on the markets of Turin and Milan.
The wholesaler paid the fish 18 euros per kg to resell it for 25. It will cost consumers no less than 30 euros.
