Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the United States as the "greatest threat" to his country.

With the military doctrine for the Navy passed today, the government is further fueling fears against NATO and the USA.

The 55-page paper says the US wants to restrict Russia's access to the world's ocean resources.

She strives for dominance of the oceans.

In addition, the approach of NATO to Russia's borders is a threat.

However, the Russian Navy is capable of "delivering a devastating counterstrike to anyone who decides to violate our sovereignty and freedom," Putin said.

At the same time, the military material is "constantly being perfected."

Putin signed the doctrine this Sunday, Russia's Naval Forces Day.

Before his speech, Putin inspected the naval parade on a trip from Kronstadt to St. Petersburg under a cloudy sky and intermittent rain.

As usual, he let the soldiers cheer him with cheers.

Shortly thereafter, in a demonstrative act of signing, he also confirmed the naval doctrine.

Navy to get hypersonic weapons

The doctrine articulates Russia's claim to be a sea power with global influence.

In a short speech, Putin paid tribute to Peter the Great.

The tsar increased Russia's influence in the world and made the country a great sea power.

Putin did not mention the war in Ukraine, which in Russia must be called a special operation.

However, the new doctrine speaks of a strengthening of the geopolitical position in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, which is hotly contested during the war and strategically important.

The document, formally signed by Putin, also stipulates that the military infrastructure on the annexed Black Sea peninsula of Crimea will be expanded.

The doctrine also envisages the construction of modern aircraft carriers.

The route through the Arctic should be passable all year round

According to Putin, the Navy will also receive Zircon-type hypersonic missiles in the coming months.

The frigate »Admiral Gorschkow« will be the first to be equipped with it.

The ship's area of operation would then depend on "Russia's security interests".

The Navy is able to "react with lightning speed to anyone who restricts our sovereignty and freedom." The hypersonic weapons have a multiple of the speed of sound of around 343 meters per second.

They are a reaction to NATO, Putin said last year.

The Arctic Ocean is also designated as an area of great importance.

Accordingly, Moscow wants to strengthen its leading position in the exploration of the Arctic and its raw materials and expand the North and Pacific Fleets.

The aim is to develop a "safe and competitive" sea route from Europe to Asia in the Arctic and to make it navigable all year round.

The so-called Northeast Passage runs along the Arctic coast of Russia.

The Kremlin has already attached great importance to the Arctic in recent years.
