Lebanese sources told the Al-Mayadeen network today (Sunday) that the American mediator Amos Hochstein is interested in reaching a quick solution before the end of the summer and the atmosphere in the talks with him was positive.
The sources added that Hochstein denied that there was a proposal for joint drilling in one of the potential gas exploration areas, in the disputed territory between Israel and Lebanon.
Also, the sources stated that Hochstein sees the video published today by Hezbollah as something unhelpful that could lead to a hardening of positions on the Israeli side.
Earlier today, Hochstein landed in Lebanon and met with the Lebanese Minister of Energy.

Meanwhile, cautious optimism prevails in Israel regarding the possibility of soon reaching an agreement with Lebanon on the issue of the maritime border.
The American mediator Amos Hochstein arrived yesterday (Saturday) in Beirut, where he is holding a round of meetings with the top Lebanese leadership and professional officials.
Hochstein is supposed to submit to the Lebanese the compromise proposal formulated in Israel.
Hezbollah threatens to damage Asda Harish
The working assumption among political parties is that Lebanon is interested in reaching an agreement, without which it will not be able to develop its gas resources.
The development of the gas fields may generate significant economic returns in the country, which is facing a severe economic crisis.
The impression in Jerusalem is that the pressure on Nasrallah not to thwart a deal on the issue is increasing, and that the Secretary General of Hezbollah is increasing his threats precisely because he feels that the parties are getting closer to an agreement.
