SC Rot-Weiß Bad Tölz is in a state of upheaval in its first district league season: Coach Wagner wants to make up for the loss of quality caused by the departure of regular players with his own youth.

Bad Tölz – Great is the euphoria at SC Rot-Weiss Bad Tölz after promotion to the district league.

And Sebastian Wagner, the new coach from our own ranks, gives the team additional wings after the greatest success in the club's history.

Almost two dozen players, from which the squad is recruited, hang in there twice a week during training.

"It was a good decision to take over this team," says the 35-year-old former red and white player, who was forced to end his career due to an old knee injury.

“The guys are going along well and take what I give them.

There is also the necessary respect for me.”

It was a good decision to take over this team.”

Sebastian Wagner, new RW coach

The five preparatory games, three of which were played in the Toto Cup, showed how well the coach and the team work together.

Here, after a 6-0 thrashing of the A-class club TSV Schliersee, they even managed to eliminate the established district league club DJK Waldram on penalties (6:5).

TSV Wolfratshausen, another A-Classist, was defeated 4-1 in the cup.

However, the district league co-promoted SV Münsing (champion of district class 3) has adjusted the dimensions a bit, and the Red-Whites 0:4.

"We mustn't let ourselves be dazzled by these results," Wagner admits, "but at the moment the prospects are rather sunny." They could already cloud over tomorrow, Tuesday, when TSV Otterfing, who have been relegated from the district league, will present themselves for the next cup comparison in Kohlstatt .

Or at the beginning of the season

because he has it all.

With Real Kreuth, Lenggrieser SC and the Holzkirchner Landesliga-Reserve, all top-class players are waiting for the league newcomer.

"Then it will show what my team can do," Wagner expects clarity about the performance of his fleeced squad.

Because he lost half a dozen top performers and veterans compared to the high-flying season: Alex Baumgärtner, goalgetter Branislav Turecek, Turhan Ulu, playmaker Ardian Geci, Mohamed Barrie and Thankgod Asoegwu.

"It's a slight loss of quality overall," admits the coach frankly.

Goalscorer Giacalone will not return until spring

On top of that, some players are suffering from injuries or are in rehabilitation training after long absences: Fynn Kettner, Adrian Ackermann, Max Geisler and Sebastian Horwath want to get playing practice again as soon as possible.

Goalscorer Riccardo Giacalone, meanwhile, will only start training in October after recovering from a cruciate ligament tear and is expected to return to the pitch in the spring.

"So the young people have to step in and absorb as much as possible," Wagner expects.

A talented quartet of youngsters is ready for this: Talha Sakal (physically robust and assertive), Abdullah Dogon (strong in tackles with good tactical understanding), Georg Bergkofer (strong in tackles and headers) and Mehmet Tokmak (equally strong in attack and defence).

"I'm not worried about the way they've gotten involved so far.

Everyone has earned their time in action.”

The quartet is complemented by Jonas Fottner, who switched from Flinthöhe to Kohlstatt after a long injury break.

The technically gifted striker has already integrated well into the team, but still needs to be fine-tuned, says Wagner.

"Other than that, I'm thrilled with him.

He is a real endurance runner and has impressed in all friendly matches.”

Relegation is above everything

The coach formulates the goal for the season full-bodied.

"Staying up in the league is above all, but why shouldn't we keep an eye on the top three?" Possibly the gaps in the defense thwart this plan.

After the departures of Barrie, Baumgärtner and Asoegwu, central defender Benedikt Ertl is the only remaining support in front of goalkeeper Siegfried Bahner.

However, Dogan has so far impressed on the left, and with Sakal and Christian Baumgärtner there are two other candidates for the back four.

"We're still in the finding phase a bit," says the coach.

"Like last season, we're not going to play anyone against the wall, but we're really up for the challenge."
