The Iraqi Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, called on the security forces to protect the demonstrators who went out today in front of the Green Zone gate, calling on the demonstrators at the same time to remain peaceful in their movement, not to escalate, and to abide by the directives of the security forces aimed at protecting them and protecting official institutions.
The Iraqi News Agency quoted Al-Kazemi as saying in a statement today that the continuation of the political escalation increases tension in the street in a manner that does not serve the public interests, stressing that the security forces have the duty to protect official institutions and take all legal measures to maintain order.
The Iraqi News Agency stated that demonstrators demanding reform entered the parliament building in the Green Zone, after they flocked to Tahrir Square and the surrounding areas near the Green Zone gate, amid strict security measures to secure the demonstrations.
