The Gaißacher Handwerkerhof has the advantage that it takes up little space.

That would be a conceivable model for Icking.

Icking does not want to have its appearance impaired by an industrial park.

A craftsman's farm based on the Gaißach model offers itself as a solution.

Icking

– As everywhere else, the citizens of Icking value a good infrastructure and attractive municipal offers.

But all of this has to be funded.

That's why the community is thinking about how more trade tax could flow into the coffers.

At the most recent council meeting, Andreas Roß, head of economic development in the district office, and Annette Hilpert from the regional development department at the IHK presented a few ideas on how to reconcile trade and rural idyll.

Because no municipality, not even Icking, would like to let the townscape be spoiled by an industrial area.

Mix of offices and workshops

The municipal councils felt most attracted by the idea of a craftsman's farm, as it was recently built in Gaißach.

As almost everyone confirmed during the subsequent exchange of views, such a craftsman's yard has the advantage that relatively little space is required - and free space is also scarce in Icking.

With the model, several companies would benefit from the development of a building.

One location for such a mix of offices and workshops is already in sight: the corn field in Dorfen.

"We could present the project at the citizens' meeting that will take place in Dorfen in autumn," suggested Mayor Verena Reithmann (UBI).

"I really like the Gaißach solution," agreed Matthias Ertl (PWG).

Stefan Schneider (UBI) also said: "We don't have any significant areas", so it's good to accommodate as many tradespeople as possible in one place.

Philipp Geiger (Greens) suggested that the need for commercial space could be determined in advance of the meeting.

The municipality has many ideas for Dorfen

Only Vigdis Nipperdey (Ickinger Initiative) did not like the idea of a craftsman's farm on the corn field: "We have great ideas for villages that I would not like to block." urgently needs a new building.

Otherwise, Roß and Hilpert found that the community could certainly still have commercial space - so far only 0.4 percent of the entire community is commercially built, in the district the proportion is 0.6 percent.

The two experts suggested talking to farmers who may have an empty barn – there could also be room for business there.

"You could also join forces with a neighboring community and jointly develop a small commercial area on the community boundary," suggested Hilpert.

However, most areas in the community are taboo because they have been designated as a purely residential area.

The Ickingers may soon be going on an excursion to Gaißach to see the craftsmen's farm.
