The Education Bureau announced today (1st) that the "Mainland University Study Subsidy Scheme" for the 2022-2023 academic year will accept applications from eligible Hong Kong students from today to September 30th.


A spokesman for the Education Bureau said that the subsidy scheme will benefit Hong Kong students studying bachelor's degree programmes at 191 designated mainland institutions, including 129 institutions participating in the scheme for recruiting students for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination in mainland universities in the 2022-2023 academic year.


In order to provide appropriate support to Hong Kong students who go to the Mainland for undergraduate programmes, and to ensure that students are not denied opportunities for post-secondary education due to financial difficulties, eligible students can apply for the means-tested means under the subsidy scheme. Financial assistance” or “Non-means-tested financial assistance”, the former only provides means-tested students.

The subsidy under the subsidy scheme will be disbursed on an annual basis, and the subsidy period is the study period of the bachelor's degree programme of the students studying in designated Mainland institutions.

Eligible applicants can only receive either "means-tested subsidy" or "non-means-tested subsidy" in the same academic year. There is no quota for the scheme.
