A serious traffic accident occurred near the border town of Freilassing on Sunday afternoon.
When turning, a car was hit sideways and thrown into a field.
Saaldorf-Surheim – On Sunday there was a serious traffic accident on the Austrian border.
A Tesla and a Suzuki collided north of Freilassing (Berchtesgadener Land district) on state road 2104, near Saaldorf-Surheim.
The small car and four occupants were thrown off the road.
Any help came too late for the driver.
Fatal accident near Freilassing: Overlooked oncoming car when turning
The accident on State Road 2104 happened around 12 noon on Sunday.
A 76-year-old woman from Freilassing was traveling with her white Suzuki and three companions.
It came from the direction of Saaldorf, according to the police press release.
She drove towards the district road while a 38-year-old from Salzburg approached her with his Tesla in the oncoming lane.
He was heading towards Waging am See.
The road was closed for the accident investigation for a long time.

According to the first findings of the police, the 76-year-old wanted to turn her car to the left in the direction of Freilassing.
She probably overlooked the oncoming Tesla.
Its driver was no longer able to brake in time and drove into the Suzuki almost without braking.
The force of the impact threw the small car into a field.
The car was so badly deformed that the fire brigades from Freilassing and Saaldorf, who arrived later, had to cut the occupants out of the vehicle.

Fatal accident near Freilassing: Four seriously injured after a collision
The 76-year-old driver was so badly injured in the violent collision that she died on the spot.
Her three passengers were also seriously injured.
They were taken to nearby hospitals.
A rescue helicopter was also deployed.
The Tesla driver got off relatively lightly.
He was only slightly injured.
However, there was extensive material damage to the cars.

The Freilassing Police Inspectorate has now taken over the investigation into the serious accident.
The officials are supported by the public prosecutor's office in Traunstein.
This also called in an expert to clarify the exact cause of the accident.
According to the police, the scene of the accident was completely closed for three and a half hours.
