"He was essentially a mediator between the prisoners and the prison administration, every security wing has a spokesperson. This is not a matter that is unique to him," the lawyer explained.

The lawyer again denied that in exchange for this mediation, Atallah got everything he wanted, including a pimp in the prisons.

He claimed that these claims had already been investigated.

"There is an intersection of the interests of several parties here. He was a prisoner, they functioned as prison guards. There was no connection beyond that."
