A solution has not yet been found for the traffic problem in the Forchet.

In order to pacify the situation, an external expert is now to be consulted.

Mayor Sluyterman addressed warning words to the residents, individual city councilors had apparently been verbally attacked.

Schongau – The citizens' interest was huge when the Schongau building committee again dealt with the subject of traffic calming in the Alpspitzstrasse area.

The chairs in the Ballenhaussaal were far from sufficient, and many visitors then followed the discussion standing up.

As reported, residents had contacted the city with a request to slow down the speeders in Alpspitzstrasse - to protect pedestrians.

Because it's quite cramped there, the sidewalk is often used to avoid people - at far too high a speed.

The city proposed three variants, and the building committee agreed to designate the northern Baumrissstraße between Tränkhaldenweg and Alpspitzstraße as a one-way street from August – on a trial basis for a year.

As a result, the residents of the surrounding streets went on the barricades,

Because of the loud protests, the topic came up again

Because of the loud protests, the topic came up again.

"All people done right is an art that nobody can do," said Mayor Falk Sluyterman, addressing his word directly to the residents.

They dealt intensively with the topic, struggled for a long time to find the right path and did not make decisions "in the manner of the landowner".

"It's also not the case that the residents of Alpspitzstraße have a better connection to the town hall - decisions are made here objectively according to law and order."

There is no question that there is a problem in Alpspitzstrasse, "but apparently the administration is not trusted to decide on its own authority," Sluyterman referred to the many negative responses from the citizenry about the planned one-way street.

In order to pacify the situation in the entire Forchet V area, one wants to take up the citizens' suggestion to call in an independent traffic expert.

A planning office should be commissioned as soon as possible so that a decision can be made after the summer break, Sluyterman suggested.

Of course, the city administration has also looked at the entire area, but perhaps an external traffic planner will approach the topic "from a different perspective".

Sluyterman: "I hope that his proposals will be more widely accepted."

Local residents had approached the city council privately and apparently did not always hit the right note

As the meeting progressed, it became clear that local residents also approached city councilors privately and had apparently not always struck the right tone.

Bettina Buresch (Greens) would have liked a little more composure in the discussion.

"It's not a nice thing when you're harassed with the scenery that you're to blame if someone dies there in the future." Such allegations "clearly overshot the mark," criticized Sluyterman, who also reported letters were "sometimes a bit strange".

The behavior of the residents among themselves was sometimes unpleasant.

There is already enough strife and war in the world, so you have to see that it stays peaceful in Schongau, Sluyterman warned of more "consideration and tolerance".

The city councilors were also surprised that the one-way street on trial met with such great rejection

Nina Konstantin (ALS) emphasized that she was quite surprised at the forms that the topic of traffic calming had taken - especially since the one-way street proposal was only a one-year experiment.

She also spoke directly to the residents, who would then have to accept the next vote based on the proposals of the specialist planner.

Ilona Böse (SPD) stressed that she stood by her decision for the one-way street rule.

"As always in life, there are two sides, I'm losing tolerance for decisions." And also the consideration of road users for each other.

As a consequence for the committee, however, she takes with her that one has to take more time for decisions and make more on-site visits in the future.

The committee did not allow the meeting attendees to speak.

The decision to test the one-way street rule was overturned against two votes.

It was decided against one vote to commission a traffic planner.
