Memmingen - The German-Israeli Society Memmingen-Kempten-Allgäu (DIG) was able to hold its annual general meeting with new election of the board in the Maximilian-Kolbe-Haus in Memmingen for the first time after the Corona period.

The DIG informs about this in a press release.

As the re-elected chairman Dr.

Ivo Holzinger said that at this time, when anti-Semitism is reviving, it is particularly important to work closely with many other social groups against it.

In Memmingen, Kempten and in the Allgäu, this has been a success thanks to many fruitful and committed initiatives.

For the DIG, based on tolerance for different opinions, it applies to strengthen friendship and solidarity and understanding for Israel, the only democratic state in the Middle East, and to further expand cultural and economic relations.

Holzinger particularly thanked the city of Memmingen and the district of Unterallgäu for their support.

The town twinning with Kiryat Shmona is a good example.

The city of Memmingen is currently working with Alexandra Hartge, the DIG with Efrat Pan and the Free State of Bavaria on a new joint economic and scientific project with the State of Israel and the partner city Kiryat Shmona.

Holzinger also thanked the Stolpersteine association for the trusting cooperation and commemorated its deceased founder Helmut Wolfseher.

He thanked the Friends of the Fellheim Synagogue and its cultural association, the city museum and the "VerVolkt" project, the MEWO art gallery and the Memmingen adult education center for many ongoing cultural projects.

He particularly thanked the DGB Memmingen and the KAB Unterallgäu for organizing the commemoration of the Reichspogromnacht on 9 November together for years.

The new elections to the board of directors of the DIG Memmingen-Kempten-Allgäu, led by honorary chairman Rolfclothingmann, yielded the following result: 1st chairman Dr.

Ivo Holzinger, 2nd Chairman Michael Trieb, 3rd Chairman Alois Kornes, Secretary Silke Hagenauer, Treasurer Peter Garmentmann, Assessor Efrat Pan, Dr.

Axel Lapp and Leo Hiemer.
