IKEA arrives in South America: it will open its first warehouse in Chile

IKEA will finally arrive in South America and Chile has been the country chosen by the Swedish company dedicated to the manufacture and sale of home furniture to debut in the region.

The first physical store will open on August 10 at the Open Kennedy shopping center, located in the Las Condes district in the northeast of Santiago de Chile, the Swedish giant announced through its social networks.

"We are waiting for you that day at Open Kennedy with many surprises that we have prepared!" Says IKEA in an Instagram post inviting all Chileans to visit the store where they can find a wide range of their products designed in Sweden and manufactured around the world.

In addition, its e-commerce service will be available from August 10 with shipments throughout continental Chile.

In the physical store you can find a furniture exhibition to inspire you with decoration ideas, a typical Swedish food restaurant and a children's play area.

"When you visit IKEA stores, we want you to feel at home. We will offer you an experience that invites you to try, touch and feel our products. You will be able to explore our assortment of products and be inspired by our home decoration ideas," says the company. swedish

During the second half of 2022, IKEA will open the second store in Santiago de Chile, but in another area of ​​the city: in the MallPlaza Oeste shopping center, located in the Cerrillos district.

His landing in Chile is considered a "milestone" for the Swedish giant.

"We look forward to the time when people can access our range of furniture and decoration items at affordable prices," says Francisco Errázuriz, Regional Retail Manager for IKEA Chile, Colombia and Peru.

To celebrate its arrival in South America, IKEA will launch a new collection next year that will highlight the culture and traditions of each Latin American country.

To do this, he joined nine Latino artists and designers, including four Chileans: designers Trini Guzmán and Abel Cárcamo, architect Felipe Assadi, and ceramist Catalina Zahri.

They are also joined by Mexican designers Liliana Ovalle and Marisol Centeno, Colombian visual artist Diana Ordóñez and Colombian chef Álvaro Clavijo.

“We have created a collaborative collection full of products that invite people to enjoy together around celebrations and shared meals.

This is the meeting point of the cultures of the region, and thus the collection will allow us to bring the vibe of Latin America to the world”, explains Patrick Houle, Home Furnishing & Retail Design Manager of IKEA Chile, Colombia and Peru.
