Here the "Tiroler Stecher" win in the right boat against the two boys of the "Bumper Brigade".

The two people from Schlehdorf, Peter Wohlmuth as the rower and Florian Eibl as the engraver, have often taken part in the jousting.

Why?

"It's always a lot of fun," says the "Bumper Brigade" team.

One can rightly claim that it was an international event: 22 teams from Germany and abroad took part in the first Schlehdorfer Fischerstechen since the Corona pandemic on Saturday.

Numerous visitors cheered on from the shore.

Schlehdorf - They came from Bremen, from Spain, from Wörthsee and of course from Austria: The field of participants at this year's Schlehdorfer Fischerstechen, which was also a partnership festival with guests from the Tyrolean partner community Flaurling, was quite international.

Eight teams out of a total of 22 came from Flaurling in Austria.

Two women's teams also competed.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Bad Tölz newsletter.

Last jousting took place before the pandemic

The Schlehdorfer Fischerstechen took place for the last time in 2018.

It was canceled in 2020 because of the pandemic.

And so the long-time defending champions Philipp Daser and Toni Strein aka "The Model and the Freak" only had to fetch the challenge trophy from the shelf at home and return it last Saturday.

Those who dared to step onto the plank in the bow of the boats were not allowed to be afraid of water.

While the first visitors arrived around 1 p.m. on the lake shore not far from the sports field, moderator Andi Zanker had gathered the teams around him to draw the starting numbers and explain the rules.

Particularly important: "It may only be hit below the neck and above the hips - not hit," he warned the engravers.

In addition, any of them who leave the narrow plank at the front of the boat during the duel on the water will be immediately disqualified.

Sometimes the wind was enough to knock the opponent off the plank

Of course, standing on the swaying plank was anything but easy given this year's weather conditions.

Many a shooter didn't even need to be attacked by the opponent.

Even the wind, which churned up the Kochelsee sometimes more, sometimes less violently, was enough to let one or the other spike fall into the water.

How warm was the lake?

"28 degrees.

14 in the north and 14 in the south,” teased moderator Zanker, who commented on the boozy bash with humorous remarks, while a boat from the Kochler water rescue service was monitoring the safety of the participants out on the lake.

In a nun's habit on the Kochelsee

The teams had sometimes gone to the scene of the event in the funniest attire.

The women's team "Sister Act" from Schlehdorf, for example, came in nun's robes.

The "bum brigade" appeared in rags.

And “The Model and the Freak” got on board – of course – as a pretty lady and an oddball.

The numerous spectators on the shore had fun with the sometimes shorter, sometimes longer duels on the water.

The teams were cheered on with loud cheers, and even the individual raindrops and heavy thunderclouds threateningly moving back and forth in the sky could not dampen the happy mood.

Twinning party with Flaurling lasts late into the night

After the end of the jousting, the partnership festival was celebrated late into the night.

"It was very well received," Zanker summed up the event.

In two years the next jousting will take place in Schlehdorf.

Incidentally, the winner this year was the "Water Festival Foundation".

"In 2020 you were the North German champion in jousting," said Zanker.

The winners:

1st place: “Water Festival Foundation” with Philip Grüne (Degerndorf) as the engraver and Tobias Pahle from Penzberg as the rower.

2nd place: "Wörthseer Buam": Tobias Schnabel (engraver) and Lukas Wittenberg (rower).

Both from Woerthsee.

3rd place: "Die Saitenstecher" from Tirol with Roman Kirchmair (engraver) and Marco Walthart (rower) 4th place: "Sister Act" from Schlehdorf: Kerstin Wolz (engraver) and Sandra Pfeiffer at the oars.
