Gelsenkirchen kiosk operator makes millions in sales
What sounds like a modern Ruhr area fairy tale has obviously become reality for the businessman and kiosk operator Fuat Köktürk, reports RUHR24.
The 42-year-old now stated to the
WAZ
that his kiosk at Wilhelminenstrasse 76 was generating “considerable sales in the millions”.
It seems inevitable that he will not only be able to do this by selling wine gums and cigarettes.
The Köktürk kiosk is much more like a jack of all trades: magazines, prepaid cards, toys, passport photos, lottery tickets, groceries – the Gelsenkirchener doesn’t just sell these things in his kiosk.
Sales in the millions in the Gelsenkirchen kiosk also come from a Western Union money transfer
Letter and parcel services, public transport tickets such as the 9-euro ticket and, above all, the "Western Union" money transfer, he revealed to the
WAZ
, would ensure sales in the millions.
The offer in the "Star Kiosk" is rounded off by a few supermarket goods or electrical parts such as charging cables or car lamps.
The former secondary school student brings his goods to the man or woman from early in the morning until late in the evening: from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sundays and public holidays from 7.30 a.m. to 11 p.m. he, his wife and two employees work alternately in the kiosk.
Köktürk seems blessed with the location of its kiosk right next to a bus stop, a bakery and close to several schools.

In the meantime, Köktürk told the
WAZ
, he has bought the house in which his kiosk is located, renovated it and converted two apartments in it for himself and his family.
The 42-year-old also rents out four apartments and an adjoining pizzeria.
And in the garden, there is now a pool.
