About two weeks ago, Kamal Kharazi, a senior adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, said a similar thing, and threatened that Tehran would react directly against Israel if it harmed it.
"In a few days we were able to enrich uranium to the level of 60% and we can easily produce uranium enriched to 90%...Iran has the technical capabilities to produce a nuclear bomb, but no decision has been made on whether to build such a bomb," Kharazi said in an interview with the Al-J Network arena.
In a closed briefing about two weeks ago, United States President Joe Biden's senior adviser on Middle East affairs, Brett McGurk, said that the White House estimates that it is "very unlikely" that there will be a return to the nuclear agreement with Iran in the near future.
According to sources present at the briefing, he stated that due to this assessment, the Biden administration intends to use sanctions and international isolation against Iran in the meantime "but without escalating the situation unnecessarily".
