The former president of the Parliament charges a Republican deputy for blocking the act where the contempt of the Constitutional Court was formalized

Despite being formally suspended as president of the Parliament, Laura Borràs continues to try to impose her criteria at the head of the institution.

This Monday she has attacked the Esquerra Republicana, accusing the deputy Ruben Wagensberg of blocking the validation of the delegated vote of the fled deputy Lluís Puig.

Wagensberg himself, who is secretary of the Parliamentary Bureau, has responded by denying that he has no intention of blocking, but has revealed that for Lluís Puig's vote to have value, "the reform of the regulations" of the Parliament is necessary.

The episode breaks the apparent unity of the independence movement that was tried to show in relation to the Lluís Puig case, and gives another twist to the confrontation that ERC maintains with Junts and, specifically, with the former president of the regional chamber.

Secretary 4rt: the minutes, as we are going to commit to the table, will reflect ALL the votes of the deputies, @LluisPuigGordi included. You know perfectly well that the workers are going to demand not to reflect it to the panel but the compto verbally and in writing. així s'ha de signar.

In June, the Constitutional Court declared null the voting delegation in the Parliament of the deputy of Junts per Catalunya Lluís Puig Gordi, former Minister of Culture of the Generalitat who fled to Belgium in 2017 after the 1-O referendum.

In the first plenary session of July, the Parlament Table supposedly agreed to disobey the mandate of the TC and Laura Borràs was in charge of staging the contempt.

Despite the fact that, to protect the institution's staff, Puig's vote did not appear on the digital screen that shows the count of each vote, Borràs opted to add, orally, an extra vote to each statement made by the parliamentary group of Together.

Then, it was said that this extra vote would appear in the minutes of the plenary session, which formalized the disobedience and opened the door to a probable legal case.

The minutes had to be signed by Borràs, as president, and despite the fact that it has already been suspended since last Thursday, she herself has stated this Monday that, in fulfillment of overdue tasks, she has moved to Parliament.

Regarding the minutes where the validation of Lluís Puig's vote must be formalized, Borràs has claimed to be waiting for it to be signed first by Wagensberg, who is secretary of the Table.

"You know perfectly well that the workers asked that the vote not be reflected in plenary but I told it verbally and in writing," he snapped at the Republican.

"There was a commitment with Esquerra and with the CUP that Lluís Puig's vote was going to be recorded in the minutes", sources close to the leader of Junts have insisted.

“It is one thing to say things verbally, but what counts is what is signed,” the same sources have insisted.

“Today I have been in Parliament signing the reconsiderations in relation to Puig Gordi's vote.

Therefore, when the secretary who blocks the minutes signs them, I will also do so.

I counted the vote and I will sign it as I did with the admission of Pau Juvillà”, he has said about his controversial action in the case of the anti-capitalist deputy whose seat was ultimately withdrawn.

Ruben Wagensberg has made it clear on Twitter that he will not refuse to sign the minutes of the plenary session on July 6 and 7, but he has warned about the Puig case: “In order for the vote to be counted again and the rights of the deputy, the reform of the regulation is necessary, which is what we propose”.
