Mindelheim – "Just fantastic", "Pure goosebumps" and "completely wonderful": In the comments on the Facebook page of the weekly KURIER, the users on Sunday gave an indication of the gigantic fireworks - not only because of the brilliant conclusion - in the evening previously offered on the Mindelheimer Schwabenwiese.

Around 7,800 spectators (almost a quarter of whom were under 16) came to the Mondlicht Open Air.

Packed with blankets, camping chairs and often a well-prepared picnic, the visitors took their places in front of the stage and along the entire slope of the Schwabenwiese.

Punctually at 8.30 p.m. Mayor Dr.

Stephan Winter and conductor and orchestra leader Nils Schad in style with a vintage car.

This has been part of the fixed ritual of the Open Air for years.

In a short speech, the mayor thanked everyone involved, the organizational team and all sponsors.

What was new this year: Until now, the Mondlicht Open Air was free for all visitors, now those over 15 had to pay two euros for admission for the first time.

The city justified this with the massively increased costs in the security sector.

But that hardly seemed to bother anyone - which also applied to the weather, because even short rain showers didn't spoil the mood: "It was a bit wet at times, but 'freshly painted' makes up for everything," said a visitor to the weekly KURIER .

After the three-year break, old classics were on the program again this year, but new ones were also played.

The ensemble "Frisch Gestrichen" performed the title melodies from "The Avengers" or "Jurassic Park", but James Bond, "Love is in the Air" and "Angels" by Robbie Williams could also be heard.

Those who weren't already gripped by emotions shouldn't be able to get by with the brilliant finale at the latest: All visitors were asked to switch on the lamps on their smartphones.

The Schwabenwiese was immersed in an impressive sea of thousands of lights.

The fireworks at the end are also part of the established tradition of the Open Air.

This time, too, the pyrotechnicians conjured up a play of colors in the sky that is rarely seen in this form.

The special evening at the Schwabenwiese came to an end with this brilliant finale.

The city as the organizer spoke afterwards of a "complete success" and an "all-round peaceful event".

Mayor Dr.

Winter was delighted: "People were happy and content and even the few raindrops didn't spoil the mood."
