First working day for the new chairwoman of the Federal Employment Agency.

Andrea Nahles wants to do things differently in Nuremberg.

Nuremberg – From August 1st, things will not only change for employees and employers in relation to their employment contracts or for students and their student loans.

There is also a change at the Federal Employment Agency in Nuremberg.

The new CEO, Andrea Nahles (SPD), has started work and has big plans for her agency.

Will the once sacked SPD chairperson be able to revolutionize the employment agency?

The SPD, which Nahles once led, wants to tackle a lot in the area of work in this legislative period.

The introduction of citizen income is planned for the coming turn of the year.

And things are also set to change at the Federal Employment Agency.

The SPD politician announced this when she took office as CEO on Monday.

One of their goals is to turn the employment agency into a modern, digital and, above all, customer-oriented model authority.

The customers should feel welcome - not as a petitioner, said Nahles of the German Press Agency.

She also sees the securing of skilled workers as a priority.

"Without immigration from third countries, it will not be possible to close this gap even remotely," said the Rhinelander.

The recognition of professional qualifications is too often like an “obstacle course”.

Nahles already has a lot of experience in the field of labor policy

The 52-year-old, who was most recently President of the Federal Telecommunications Agency, will implement things in her new office that she herself initiated as a politician.

For decades she had dealt with Hartz IV, the minimum wage and other urgent issues in the Bundestag and in the ministry.

Her areas of responsibility in the Federal Agency will include the budget, IT, the Institute for Labor Market and Vocational Research and strategy.

In her new position, she will work closely with her party colleagues Hubertus Heil (Federal Minister of Labor and Social Affairs) and Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

The three have known each other for many years and have worked together on many projects.
