," the ministry said in a statement.
An Israeli police spokesman confirmed to AFP that border guards were carrying out an operation in the city of Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank, without providing further details.
At least 54 Palestinians have been killed since late March, mostly in the occupied West Bank, including suspected militants and civilians including Palestinian-American Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was covering an Israeli operation in Jenin.
During the same period, 19 people - mostly Israeli civilians inside Israel - were killed, mostly in attacks by Palestinians.
Three Arab Israeli attackers were also killed.
