Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the West continues to put obstacles in the way of repairing and supplying turbines for the "Northern Stream 1" gas pipeline, by imposing sanctions on Russia.
In a statement carried by TASS, Peskov stressed that the Russian side cannot do much in this case, pointing out that the Russian company Gazprom spoke about the reality of the situation and clarified that there are malfunctions that require urgent repairs, and there are artificial difficulties caused by illegal restrictions and Western sanctions, and this situation needs solutions. There is not much for the Russian side to do.
It is noteworthy that the pumping through the “North Stream 1” gas pipeline has decreased since mid-June and is using only 40% of its maximum capacity due to Siemens’ refusal to return the pumping turbines after they were repaired in Montreal due to the Canadian sanctions against Russia.
