Daniel Cohen, 30 years old from Herzliya, is the suspect in the attack on the manager of the "Heart of the City" parking lot yesterday (Sunday) in Herzliya.

According to the suspicion, after the parking lot manager warned him and his brother about parking, Cohen attacked him with his fists, knocked him down and caused him a serious injury.

Cohen was brought to a hearing at the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court today, and his detention was extended for three days.

The police charged him with the offense of grievous bodily harm.

His brother, the other suspect who was with Cohen and was arrested yesterday, was released from the police station last night.

Following the attack, the parking lot manager was hospitalized at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva in serious condition, and his brain may have suffered irreversible damage.

Cohen claimed in his investigation that he acted in self-defense and that the parking lot manager threatened to stab him and his brother with a knife.

The police said in response that no knife was found at the scene.

At the hearing for the extension of his detention, Judge Ilan Tzur stated that this is a serious crime of violence, the consequences of which are evident.

"I find that there is an evidentiary foundation that establishes a reasonable suspicion against the suspect for the crimes he was suspected of committing and that there is a basis for his arrest."

Cohen's lawyer said in response: "My client claims that he stood in the way between the complainant and his brother. Also, the complainant threatened him to stab him and therefore he responded in self-defense."
