With the aim of informing expatriates about investment opportunities and development projects in Homs Governorate, the work of the Expatriate Gathering Forum was launched today in Al-Wadi Hotel in the town of Al-Mashtaya.

During the forum, a presentation was made on the investment map in various sectors, including projects in alternative energy, tourism, commercial and agricultural, and a scheme for preparing expatriates and their distribution in the governorate and their investment opportunities in the administrative units to which they belong.

The interventions of the expatriates called for introducing the expatriates to the investment advantages and facilities provided to them and activating the committee of the Expatriate Association so that it would be able to create channels of communication between the expatriates and the heads of administrative units, which would contribute to introducing them to the development projects that the governorate needs and addressing the administrative problems they encounter in immigration and passports.

The Governor of Homs, Engineer Namir Makhlouf, said: The expatriates are the voice of Syria, and every Syrian in the diaspora reflects the true image of our country, after it was falsified.

Eng. Makhlouf also noted the role of expatriates through their individual and societal initiatives that contribute to improving the reality of services, calling for activating this role in the investment field.

In turn, Secretary of the Homs branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party Omar Houriya mentioned that today’s forum is an opportunity to learn about the expatriates’ visions in serving their local communities and their homeland to overcome the repercussions of the terrorist war that Syria has been subjected to during the past years and the difficult living conditions that have increased the impact of the unjust economic blockade imposed on Syria, pointing to The pioneering development and service projects presented by the expatriates to their homeland in some villages of Homs, stressing the readiness of all the governorate’s activities to overcome the difficulties facing the expatriates and to communicate with the concerned authorities regarding many of the issues raised during the forum.

Archimandrite Arsanios Dahdal, head of the Monastery of St. George the Humaira, said that it falls to us as the sons of one homeland, in which we were brought up with the responsibility to stand by him, support him, rebuild and reconstruct it so that Syria returns to the way it used to meet all the spectrum of Syrian society, stressing the quest to put visions and proposals during this meeting to be built on in the future.
