Looking forward to a typical Dachau folk festival without corona restrictions: landlord Ewald Zechner, Christian Hefele from the Schweiger festival tent, Jürgen Vötter from Ziegler’s festival tent, Tobias Schneider, head of the cultural department (above, from left), showman spokesman Paul Tille, Daniela Hellmann, partner of Ewald Zechner, Inge Stauss from the Franziskaner Garten, Andrea Löffler from the municipal cultural office, Zieglers boss Andrea Schneider and Mayor Florian Hartmann (below, from left).

Only eleven days until the Dachau folk festival.

At a press conference yesterday, those responsible revealed what awaits the visitors, how the landlords are struggling with the shortage of skilled workers and whether the summer hit of the year will be played at the folk festival after all.

Dachau

– The anticipation of the Dachau folk festival is increasing.

Not only with the organizers and the people of Dachau, but obviously also with the people in the surrounding area.

As host Ewald Zechner reported yesterday at a press event on the terrace of the Zieglerbräu, the demand for tables in his tent is huge.

For the Ois Easy concert on August 19, for example, he said almost imploringly: "Please don't call anymore, please don't send any more e-mails!

Reservations are a thing of the past!” Only for the evening before the folk festival on August 12th is demand (still) slow, for this evening almost only people from outside have reserved.

"Dachau is letting us down a little bit."

However, Zechner is sure that he will also have a full tent on August 12th.

After all, the offer that he wants to offer his guests throughout the festive period, which lasts until August 22nd after the official opening ceremony on August 13th, is simply unique in a wide area.

The Augustiner beer is "very cheap" at 8.60 euros, and this year there is also a special lunch offer: the "Dachauer Hendlpaket", consisting of half a chicken with potato salad, for 8.50 euros.

According to Zechner, this price “is unbeatable”!

Ois Easy concert on August 19: "Please don't call again!"

Showman spokesman Paul Tille expressed the great anticipation of his industry for the Dachau folk festival on behalf of his around 70 colleagues who will be there again this year at the Thomawiese: "Finally it's going on again.

Traditional folk festivals like the Dachauer are an important mainstay of the showmen, they make money there”!

The visitors can look forward to “great rides”, whereby there will be new products as well as traditional rides.

Nothing new, but on the contrary, everything is done as it used to be in Schweiger's delicacy tent, in the Franziskaner Garten, in Naumann's and in Ziegler's party tent.

Ziegler boss Andrea Schneider emphasized that she and her team are "well under stress" at the moment, but the anticipation makes up for all the work.

The feedback from the Dachau youth was clear: "This year you just have to go back to the Ziegler tent!"

Schneider and her colleague Zechner once again put on record that the city's recommendation not to play the summer hit "Layla" was respected but possibly not implemented.

"When we notice that the atmosphere is boiling, then we just play it - before the tent is torn apart for us," says Andrea Schneider.

The latter also fears Zechner, who claims to have researched that this would be "the first time that beer mugs were flying in Dachau".

Tobias Schneider, head of the cultural office, found that the topic had been "hyped up by the media".

The hosts would have to decide whether the song would be played or not.

The city only “articulated its opinion” on this.

Landlord Ewald Zechner: "It's harder than ever to find staff"

According to Ewald Zechner, the much bigger problem than a supposedly sexist summer hit is the lack of skilled workers.

Applicants used to be rejected, today he had to "beg" to get the 160 people needed for his marquee.

He almost begged his older colleagues: "Please don't retire yet!" In the end, however, "thank God it worked out."

Thus, according to Zechner, "we can ensure controlled operation".

While there is Augustiner beer in Zechner's marquee, the other tents stick to the tried and tested spade.

As Wolfgang Altmann explained, Spaten-Franziskaner Bräu GmbH has once again brewed a special Dachau festival beer.
