German Foreign Ministry spokesman Christopher Burger denied the existence of decisions in the European Union to stop issuing Schengen visas to Russian citizens.
Commenting on Estonia's initiative in this regard, RIA Novosti news agency quoted Borger as saying: At the moment there are no decisions at the EU level that would make it possible to cancel the issuance of Schengen visas to Russian citizens.
It is noteworthy that Estonia's Foreign Minister Urmas Rensloo announced earlier that his country would prepare a proposal to stop the entry of Russian citizens to Europe in general, pointing out that Estonia has stopped issuing new visas to Russian citizens, but they continue to reach the country using Schengen visas obtained in other countries.
