The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service confirmed that the allegations about the deployment of its units on the road to Baghdad International Airport and the Green Zone are incorrect.
And the device stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “While the Counter-Terrorism Service continues to pursue the remnants of the terrorist “ISIS” and demolish its caches, some social media pages have dealt with news that pieces of the device have spread on the road to Baghdad International Airport and inside the Green Zone. We deny that our units are deployed anywhere and are continuing to perform their duty to achieve security and pursue the remnants of the terrorist “ISIS” wherever it is found.
He added: "The formations of the Counter-Terrorism Service have allegiances only to Iraq and the military establishment," noting that these rumors are being circulated at this time in particular to make the security forces part of the current political situation, and this matter is not true and has nothing to do with reality. The statement continued: “Amid the political developments taking place in the Iraqi arena, the Counter-Terrorism Service confirms that it will not be a party to politics or governance, and its leadership is not satisfied that it deviates from its duties stipulated in the Anti-Terrorism Service Law.”
The agency stressed that it is a solid and strong Iraqi institution that is linked to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and his directives and enjoys local and international consensus on its professionalism due to its successes in Iraq's battles against terrorist gangs and for the sacrifices made by this agency.
