Two weeks ago, Donald Trump's first wife was buried.

Critics now accuse the ex-US President of a tax trick at the funeral.

Bedminster / New Jersey - Ivana Trump's grave is apparently found near a golf tee.

Her former husband, ex-US President Donald Trump, is known to be passionate about the sport.

But is that why the deceased is there?

Observers see the reason in a topic that also electrifies Trump: taxes.

Sociology professor Brooke Harrington tweeted that she initially didn't want to believe the rumors about the burial site: that she should be at the "Trump National Golf Club" in Bedminster, New Jersey.

"A sad little piece of dirt" she called the location of the grave on Twitter.

You have therefore consulted the tax laws of New Jersey.

“And folks, this is a three-way combination of tax evasion.

Property tax, income tax and value-added tax, all of this will be eliminated,” says Harrington, summing up the speculation:

Ivana Trump buried on golf course: Professor sees it as "tax optimization"

Harrington works at Darthmouth College in the US state of New Hampshire and, according to his own (Twitter) information, specializes in research into “tax optimization”.

In New Jersey, land used as a cemetery is exempt from all taxes.

As the

Daily Mail

reports, but only as long as they are smaller than ten hectares.

However, Trump's golf club covers a much larger area, so the tax exemption can only apply around the grave, writes the British newspaper.

As early as 2017, the Washington Times

reported on Trump’s cemetery plans for his golf course in Bedminster

under the headline “The Mystery of Donald Trump and the New Jersey Cemetery” .

"Does the world's most famous Manhattanite really want to be buried in nowhere?" asked the US newspaper.

And even then he asked the question: Or is it about tax avoidance?

Trump's curious funeral plans: A mausoleum in New Jersey?

According to the report, Trump had been talking about his funeral plans for more than a decade at the time, which he "completely overturned at least five times."

The

Washington Post

also recalled at the time that Trump announced a mausoleum for himself in New Jersey in 2007.

As the

Wall Street Journal

reported in 2016, a herd of goats was temporarily kept on the property in Bedminster.

Tax exemptions therefore also apply to agricultural land.

Because Trump had obstructed tax evasion investigations against him, the 76-year-old only had to pay a fine of the equivalent of 104,000 euros this May.

Ivana Trump died on July 14, 2022 at the age of 73.
