"A galaxy shrouded in mystery 500 million light years away": the space telescope once again managed to excite | Israel today

For the first time, the researchers at the American space agency were able to clearly see what the massive galaxy known as the "wheel galaxy" looks like, despite its huge clouds of dust

NASA's sophisticated "Webb" space telescope never ceases to amaze, and on Tuesday the American space agency revealed a rare image it was able to capture through its lenses: the "Wheel Galaxy" revealed in its full power from a distance of 500 million light years.

This is a great success for the space scientists because this galaxy has always fascinated those involved in the field, among other things in light of its special shape - a shape that simulates the movement of an old chariot wheel - which in their estimation was created by the collision of two galaxies, and as a result it is possible to diagnose this galaxy by the shape of the rings that come out of its center, which simulate An old chariot wheel with ribs coming out of the center.

In fact, it is a galaxy that was spiral, like the Milky Way in our galaxy, until the collision event.

The small white ring is closer to the center of the galaxy, and the outer ring with its colored ribs has been expanding non-stop for over 440 million years.

Although the "Hubble" telescope also managed to photograph the "Wheel Galaxy", this time the technology managed to surpass itself and photograph through "a huge amount of dust clouds" and the huge black hole in its center, showing that it is still in the making despite all the time that has passed.

"Other telescopes have examined the galaxy in the past, but it was shrouded in mystery - perhaps even in the literal sense - because of the amount of dust, but "Webb" succeeded thanks to its ability to detect infrared light, to discover new insights into its characteristics," said NASA, along with Its partners in the project, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency.

"The telescope gave us a moment in time of the Galgal galaxy, but it also gives us insight into what happened to it in the past and how it will shape up into the future," said NASA.
