A youth hostel manager answered many questions about his day-to-day work on Reddit.

He tells strange and sometimes disgusting stories.

Anyone who deals with new travel groups week after week has a lot to tell.

Especially if it's mostly high school students.

According to the Reddit user “u/NummeDuss”, he is the father of a youth hostel.

Among his guests are mainly young people from school classes, sports and music groups and other youth organizations.

In the forum, he answered numerous questions from other Reddit users in a very entertaining and informative way.

Youth hostel director reveals his strangest moment

For example, one of the Reddit users wanted to know what the strangest moment as a hostel father was.

When asked this question, one story always comes to mind first: “One night I heard something dripping on my window sill – even though it wasn’t raining.

Of course, I knew right away that someone was throwing up drunk out of the window above mine.

So I went out to see how big the mess had gotten and then saw all the windows on the floor being thrown up at the same time.

So six windows in a row and everyone had a head sticking out of it and everyone was throwing up.” At least some students volunteered to clean up – which was rather rare.

Youth hostel director reveals the most pleasant and most difficult travel groups

According to the Reddit hostel father, sports and music clubs are among the most pleasant guests in the youth hostel.

He cannot generalize school classes, since there are always "absolutely chaotic" but also "totally nice".

Meanwhile, youth organizations from political parties in particular are the most unpleasant guests.

It doesn't matter which party that is.

The reason for this is that they behave like “members of the government” and “talk down to the staff from above”.

He explains: "They often want extras that they haven't booked before and show absolutely no understanding when we can't fulfill their spontaneous requests (e.g. an additional group room while all the rooms have been booked by other groups etc.).

But yes, the most annoying thing is actually the behavior of the participants towards our staff and you can actually say that in general.”

Also, Reddit users wanted to know which hostel is the coolest.

The answer he gave was the Wewelsburg youth hostel in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In general, castles are the best hostels.

"My youth hostel is also in a 500-year-old building, but unfortunately not a castle."
