A new Edeka has opened in Bayreuth – including a farm shop.
Sustainability and customer friendliness are top priorities.
Bayreuth – An Edeka of superlatives opened in Bayreuth in Upper Franconia at the end of July.
"Attractive and contemporary" is how the group describes the new Edeka supermarket Schneider on Justus-Liebig-Strasse in a statement.

No customer wishes should remain unfulfilled here: sustainability and customer friendliness are at the top.
"From now on, a green roof area will not only stand for a positive CO2 footprint, but also the more energy-efficient cooling and heating technology and a sophisticated LED lighting system, largely operated with locally generated solar energy, are incorporated into this concept." , according to the press release.
Patrick Schneider, market owner of the new Edeka, explained: "It is our biggest project so far".
Schneider and his family already run six Edeka stores in the region.
And there is a lot in the new supermarket: the complete Edeka range with a good 40,000 products can now be found on 3,500 square meters - many of which come from the region.

Even District Administrator Florian Wiedemann was present at the opening: "Normally it's rather unusual for a District Administrator to come to the opening of a supermarket.
But given the fact that there is a particularly wide range of products from the region thanks to the establishment of our own farm shop in the market, I am particularly pleased about the invitation to this event.”
Andreas Zippel, Deputy Mayor of Bayreuth, was also there.
In particular, the 50 meter long delicatessen counter, a 24 meter long fresh food counter and the eight meter long range of spices "will inspire customers", he is certain.

From Zippel's point of view, another positive aspect is that there is a wide range of additional offers for customers in addition to the Edeka market.
After all, in the neighborhood there is a dm, an Aldi, Fleur Holland as a flower shop, Intersport Gießübel, a café and a bakery Kutzer in the pre-payment area.
