The local authorities in northeast China's Liaoning Province announced the evacuation of 6,393 people after a river flooded after a dam broke in the province.
Xinhua news agency quoted the authorities as saying that the Raoyang River in Panjin city witnessed rainstorms that hit the area, and the flooding was more severe than ever, which required 6,393 local residents to be safely evacuated without any casualties reported.
After the crack occurred, the flood prevention and control headquarters launched the first degree of emergency response to control the flood. It also sent 2,680 rescuers, 320 engineers and transport vehicles to the site, in addition to transporting flood control materials such as sandbags and wooden boards to the site.
